Founded in 1841, the Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD) provides services to deaf people in their first language, usually British Sign Language (BSL) and supports mainstream providers to be more accessible to deaf people. Celebrating deaf culture, language, identity, community, heritage and diversity is an essential part of what they do. They work with deaf people to create a better, more accessible future. RAD are proud of their heritage, and passionate about making sure that the charity continues to develop so that it remains relevant to the needs and aspirations of deaf people.

Christopher Sacre x RAD<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

Christopher Sacre<\/a> studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Sculpture at Wolverhampton and has been a visual artist and art facilitator for over 21 years. Currently based at Sun Pier House in Chatham (Kent), he specialises in providing creative workshops\/activities that are accessible to deaf people and their families, supporting other facilitators to improve the accessibility of their provision at galleries, museums, and other creative events.\u00a0<\/p>

In 2016, he established SEE and CREATE<\/a>, enabling deaf families to have greater opportunity to participate in deaf accessible family-friendly creative events, and Co-Director of the MESS ROOM<\/a> with Wendy Daws, a creative community art studio based at Sun Pier House in Chatham, with a special emphasis on providing access to creative events for the deaf and people with hearing loss, the blind and the partially Black Deaf UK<\/strong><\/h3>

We are thrilled to welcome\u00a0our latest designer to RAD\u2019s merchandise shop - Textiles & Combined Media Artist\/Designer,\u00a0Omeima Mudawi-Rowlings<\/a> and Graphic Designer, Matthew H Jones.<\/p>

We are pleased to announce that we\u00a0will be donating all proceeds from the sale of one of Omeima\u2019s Black History Month designs to Black Deaf UK<\/a> \u2013 a Black Deaf led organisation seeking to connect the Black Deaf community together.<\/p>

We are committed to becoming an anti-racist organisation that is fair, inclusive and representative of every member of TeamRAD and deaf person in our wider community.<\/p>

One of our key ambitions between 2021 and 2024 is that we ensure equal representation by making sure RAD is diverse, fair and inclusive - and means something to every deaf person.<\/p>
